
Sunday evening at home...playing cribbage...hear a glug-glug from toilet....yikes!! SEWER backup!! (debris-free, but still smelly, water!)...!!!... grab towels... don rubber gloves...begin to mop... talk to neighbors=flooding also... okay, nobody use water!... call landlord.... keep mopping...visting teacher shows up to visit... uh, this isn't a good time... call city, will send someone soon... visiting teacher returns with 20+ towels... keep mopping.... water stops coming.... report from city: "problem in sewage line fixed"... lysol our floors... sigh of relief...
Problem returns!... ahh! start mopping again!! ... call city again... go to bed... 2 am mop some more... towels running low... new guy comes in morning... fixes different problem... problem fixed!... go to laundromat to wash about 30 towels... return home, feeling clean... lysol floors...

So, yes, there were a few blockages in the sewage line servicing our apartment buildings... as soon as we were told the problem was fixed, the flooding would return and we were back to square one. It was an eventful, stressful near 24 hours trying to keep our apartment mopped up. I had to keep my public health side in check and try not to freak out over the smell and potential pathogens!! But with towels, rubber gloves, and lysol we survived and now our house is back in order again!
oh wow. looks like you've been busy since you got back. i hope it's fixed! and glad you had a good holiday away. i love being able to keep up with you guys more through blogs!
